GROUP CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
STUDIO GROUP CLASSES are held inside our professional studio and throughout the Garnerville Arts & Industrial Center. Collaboratively, students will explore how to work behind and in front of the lens. Topics include all levels of camera manipulation, composition, perspective and lighting. Through hands-on project-based learning, we will discover how to create visual stories, play various roles and expand on individual artistic vision. Students study as Creatives and can remain Creatives or move into Pre-professional and Independent Study at levels 4 & 5.
CREATIVES LEVEL I: BEGINNERS study the basics of ISO/Shutter/Aperture, while focusing on the foundations of composition. Equally important, we explore the importance of the world that surrounds us, such as light, perspective and the emotion of each scenario.
CREATIVES LEVEL II: ADVANCED BEGINNERS We take a deeper dive into the study of ISO/Shutter/Aperture as while exploring specific camera menu systems. New photographic techniques will be discovered within areas such as macro, long exposure, and selective focus.

CREATIVES LEVEL IV/IV+: ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE, Portfolio, Pre-Professional Track & Independent Study Levels of study dependent on each class, please inquire - maximum 4 students. Students have full working knowledge of the exposure triangle in manual mode. Together we narrow down genres and individual styles of storytelling begin to evolve. Complex composition concepts, along with advanced techniques. The application of techniques in assignments, and/or *optional touch upon the values of both workflow & processing, while honing in on the craft. Smaller class sizes.

SPACES LIMITED, REGISTER EARLY! Approximately 6-8 students per class. Advanced classes may have up to 4-5 students. Cost is per participant. All participants must register on-line prior to sessions or by appointment. There will be a waiting list available, when applicable. *Instructor make up classes: production, illness or weather related concerns.
Certain advanced beginner, intermediate, pre-professional & professional classes include experiential learning along with guest speakers, talent, field trips and/or opportunities for imagery publication. Selected lessons may have additional facility/model fees. Please contact us if you feel that you fit into a particular level, but do not meet the age requirements.

The CAC of HV will provide a camera for on-site instruction. A flash drive at least 16GB is required for daily image storage and will be returned after the final session. If preferred, you may bring a personal laptop. We require comfortable and weather-related clothing, with a sneakers or a safe flat-soled shoe for outdoor shooting and greaseless outdoor bug spray. . Each participant should bring their own filled drinking bottle, small note pad & pencil. Since regulations state that we can not share a drinking fountain/cooler, bottled water will be available for $1. See FAQ for more details.
